I need help!! I cannot get rid of this sugar addiction. I've been dealing with back issues and can barely walk half days let alone work out, my orthopedic doctor said I couldn't work out or really walk just stretch. I have gone back to my old ways and I feel like I am back in my addiction with food. I've gained 15 pounds the past 2 months and I feel Awful and going back into my depression. How do I start over? Does anyone have any tips?

Thanks In advance!!

Hi Pstone928,
I suggest pulling out your bariatric binder and reread it. It will remind you of how you recognized your pitfalls and dealt with your addiction to food. Follow it just like you did in the beginning. Start doing the 30/60 rule and make your meals smaller - maybe use baby utensils, plates, and bowls. Remember to drink water all day long - drink, drink, drink!!! Call the office and ask to speak to one of the counselors. Depression can trigger old habits of trying to get a quick fix and elevate your mood from eating foods that are really bad for you - like SUGAR - and hurt you long term. And if your doctor has not told you yet, for every pound you are overweight it puts seven pounds of pressure on your spine. So break that vicious cycle of eating till you can't move and when you can't move you eat more. Try to just get up and move, go outside, stay away from the TV, the cabinets, and the frig - the weather is getting warmer and the days are longer so just get out. Try something your back can handle like riding a bike, swimming, etc. You can do this, lift yourself up and focus!!! Good luck!!!
